New 2016 Jeep Renegade at Lustine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram for Woodbridge, VA
2016 is the Jeep Renegade's second year in the arena, and has a few key changes, one of them in the sound department: Beats Audio for all 9 speakers on a Premium option. New for 2016 also are automatic wipers (optional) on the Latitude trim (standard on Limited/Trailhawk versions). Jeep Renegade is for when you actually use your vehicle for more normal car-type driving and ferrying, but don't want to sacrifice either ride comfort or outdoor capabilities completely. The Jeep Renegade is an incredible balance of 4-wheeling fun and power, but is also realistically an all around town vehicle that dependably takes care of your everyday needs as well. In fact, its size usually helps it beat out many SUVs, trucks and crossovers in the important areas of parallel parking, traffic navigation and clearance on uneven terrain.
Under the Renegade's Hood
The 2016 Jeep Renegade has two engine possibilities. The base engine, standard in the Sport/Latitude models, is a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder that generates 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission. Optional on both Sport/Latitude and standard on Limited/Trailhawk models is the 2.4-liter four-cylinder that reaches 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. That engine has a nine-speed automatic transmission. All Renegades (besides the 4WD Trailhawk) can be either front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Speaking of that, all 4WD Renegades have selectable drive modes. The Renegade Trailhawk has a more progressive 4WD system that has enhanced low-speed off-road gearing and gains an extra driving Mode (Rock). When geared up with the Trailer Tow package, the 4WD, 2.4-liter engine version can tow up to 2,000 pounds, which is perfect for small boats, dump runs, motorcycles on trailers, and reliably moving stuff from Point A to B.
Design of Jeep Renegade
On the interior, the Uconnect system has an upgraded 6.5-inch touchscreen that is engaging and full of resources. The upright design equals out to plenty of headroom and legroom in the front. The rear cargo area achieves 50.8 cubic feet of cargo space with seats down, and 18.5 cubic feet with seats up. The 2016 Jeep Renegade is a five-passenger crossover that has four main trims: Sport, Latitude, Limited and Trailhawk. Standard on the Sport model is keyless entry, power windows and locks, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a height-adjustable driver seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel and an auxiliary jack. The Latitude adds alloy wheels, roof rails, foglights, automatic headlights, heated power-adjustable outside mirrors, AC, cruise control, a rearview camera, the Uconnect control interface, Bluetooth phone/audio connectivity, and six-speakers. The Limited gets 18-inch wheels, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote engine start, a 115-volt power outlet, and a heated steering wheel, plus several other goodies. The 4-wheel drive Trailhawk comes with hill descent control, a raised suspension, tow hooks, underbody skid plates, 17-inch alloy wheels and all-terrain tires, and a removable cargo floor panel. Really any configuration here will have you covered, they are all well stocked.
Does the 2016 Jeep Renegade have a sunroof option?
Manually removable sunroofs are options on all Renegades. On the Sport model, the front sunroof can be power-operated!

The 2016 Jeep Renegade comes standard with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, a driver knee airbag, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and hill start assist, so it's safer than some of its competitors in the category. A rearview camera is optional for the Sport (standard on all trims above that). Plus, there are two safety-minded packages available that combined, add a lane departure warning system, lane keeping assist, a blind spot monitoring system, a rear cross-path alert system, a forward collision warning system and rear parking sensors. In addition to that, safety goes more tech when the Uconnect Access is utilized, as it uses embedded cellular technology to deliver emergency and roadside assistance as well as remote door locking and stolen vehicle location services. Here, Jeep has moved to make this subcompact more competitive with SUVs and other crossovers, adding more security features than usual that one would see in an off-roading-only vehicle. This is certainly a capable vehicle in variable conditions and yet also sophisticated enough to be driven as the primary ride for your day to day use.
