The second level trim level of the 2017 Dodge Durango is now the GT with a monochromatic and sporty look. The top trim R/T gets some new options like hand-wrapped soft-touch instrument panel with red stitching and black roof rails. The Citadel trim get the Anodized Platinum package with upgraded features like black and sepia leather seats, hand-wrapped items, anodized gunmetal on steering wheel and front and rear door speakers, and platinum chrome on the thin-film transistor, gauge cluster, center stack, both front and rear console, grille surround, fog lamp bezels, door handles, and exterior badges. Under the Durango's Hood
Every Durango except the R/T comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 good for 290 horsepower, but 295 hp on the Citadel, and 260 pound-feet of torque. It is an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. There is an option to add all-wheel drive. The R/T comes with a 5.7-liter V8 engine that is powered by 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Again, this engine comes with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The option is there to add an all-wheel-drive system that includes a low-range transfer case for improved off-road performance. The fuel economy on the V6 is at 21 mpg FWD and AWD, while the V8 has 17 mpg for both drives. The V8 engine could tow up to a maximum of 7,400 pounds.
Design of Dodge Durango
There are so many features on all the different trim levels. The SXT comes with features like automatic headlamps, heated mirrors, a 50/50-split folding third-row seat or alternatively no third-row, Bluetooth phone connectivity, a 5-inch touchscreen interface, and a six-speaker sound system. The GT adds some features like LED running lights, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, remote ignition, heated steering wheel, heated front and second-row seats, leather upholstery, driver memory settings, Bluetooth, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The Citadel will get xenon headlights, automatic high beams, automatic wipers, roof-rail crossbars, a sunroof, a power liftgate, a cargo cover, upgraded leather upholstery, a navigation system, and ventilated front seats. Lastly, the R/T comes with the V8 engine, an upgraded steering system, a sport-tuned suspension, red accent stitching and a Beats audio system. Brass Monkey appearance package is available for the GT and R/T that includes a gloss-black grille, black headlamp bezels, 20-inch bronze-painted wheels and extra body-color trim. Another package for those two trim levels is the Blacktop appearance package with 20-inch, black-painted wheels and a variety of black-out exterior trim items.

Are there any new colors?
Yes, there are three new colors the Rhino Clear Coat which is available on the R/T, R/T Blacktop, and R/T Brass Monkey, Diamond Black Crystal Clear Coat, and Walnut Brown. The other colors are Redline Pearl Coat (available only on the GT, Blacktop, and R/T), Velvet Red Pearl Coat, Luxury Brown Pearl Coat, True Blue Pearl Clear Coat, Granite Crystal Metallic Clear Coat, Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Ivory Pearl Tri-coat, and Bright White Clear Coat.
How much can the Dodge Durango tow?
The Durango can tow up to 7,400 pounds, which is better than most trucks.
The 8.4-inch touchscreen system comes with emergency assistance and stolen vehicle tracking. There is a Technology Group package available for the Citadel and R/T. It comes with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a forward collision warning system with automatic braking, lane departure warning and lane-keeping assist. The standard features are anti-lock disc brakes, front side airbags, driver knee airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and stability and traction control.
